Biovela Group is to make investments in renewable energy – the highest capacity industrial solar power plant in the Baltic states is in the course of construction

Biovela Group will invest almost 1.4 million euro in the renewable energy project: the installation of the solar power plant with the capacity of 1.7 megawatt on the roofs of production buildings of “Utenos mėsa” company controlled by the Group was initiated. It will become the highest capacity and largest power plant of this kind in the Baltic states. The new power plant will be put into operation in spring 2019.

General Director of Biovela Group Audrius Kantauskas claims that the company group takes into account global climate change problems and aims to achieve the gradual increase of the number of environment protection initiatives. According to him, this was one of the main reasons for the new investment in renewable energy sources.

“As the leader of the meat processing market in the Baltic states, we use large amounts of energy in our activities. Therefore, apart from the environmental goals, the decision to invest in the construction of solar power plant was also determined by economic motives. This project will allow us to reduce standard energy costs by approximately 20 per cent. Also, we will replace more than 2,000 daylight lamps at the factory by efficient LED lighting with motion sensors,” Mr. Kantauskas stated.

Works for the installation of the highest capacity and largest industrial solar power plant in the Baltic states will be carried out in Utena in two stages.
